It's no secret that next month's "Furious 7" ends on a poignant note
of remembrance to deceased star Paul Walker. (Quite literally: "FOR PAUL" are the last words before the closing credits roll.)
"In some ways, this was the hardest movie I've ever had to do," Vin Diesel said before a fan screening of "Furious 7" this week. "The relationships you see in the film are so real. When the tragedy happened ... I lost my friend. I lost my brother."
Without
giving away exactly what happens to Walker's Brian O'Conner, let's just
say "Furious 7" closes with a montage of Walker/O'Conner that hews
closely to the tribute video to Walker released after his death.
But this time, instead of Skylar Grey's "I'm Coming Home," the track
used is Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again" (feat. Charlie Puth). With echoes
to Puff Daddy's "I'll Be Missing You,"
plus a strong universality that makes it seem like the perfect high
school graduation track, "See You Again" profiles as a future contender
for Song of the Summer. Listen now and get ahead of the curve, but have
some tissues handy. This one is so sad.
