#StaffySPORTS: Supper Eagles’ Job Not Made For Keshi Alone, says Anyansi

WHILE the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) insist it would sign a new contract today with Coach Stephen Keshi to enable the former Super Eagles’ captain continue
handling the team, chairman of the federation’s technical committee, Felix Anyansi Agwu, has cast doubts on the possibility of the event happening as scheduled.
Anyansi Agwu told The Guardian yesterday that the delay in hiring a coach for the Super Eagles was to ensure the federation explored all options available before committing to any coach.
He noted that it would be parochial and not professional if the NFF narrowed its search to Keshi alone without looking at what other coaches could offer.
The Enyimba of Aba boss revealed that the board was also putting the necessary logistics in place to ensure the Super Eagles got the best technical heads when for the 2017 Nations Cup and 2018 World Cup qualifiers begin.
He assured Nigerian football lovers that the federation was working round the clock to employ the best coach for the team, saying that all hands were on deck to ensure the NFF successfully transformed the Super Eagles.
“I don’t understand why people are castigating the NFF for not getting a coach for the Eagles yet. We are also worried about this issue because the Eagles should have commenced preparations for the Nations Cup and World Cup qualifiers.
“We are preparing ground so that the next coach for the Eagles would not face any challenges in the course of his duty. I cannot ascertain if Keshi will still handle the team because the NFF is seeking other avenues to get a credible coach for the Eagles. Keshi or anybody could be announced for the job.
“The NFF’s mission now is to prepare a good ground for the Eagles coach. Before the week runs out whoever emerges the coach of the team would be announced… there is no cause for alarm,” he declared.
On the poor performance of the foreign-based players in their various clubs, Anyansi stressed that Nigerians need to give the players the support to excel.
“The NFF is not happy that some of our foreign-based players are not regulars in their clubs. We are working hard to ensure any coach that handles the team beams his searchlight on our domestic league or any league in the world to make up for this anomaly,” he said.
