By now you probably heard, Janet Jackson has resurfaced and has a
planned tour and album ahead. Jackson herself made the news public.
She
tweeted a hint and directed followers to her website. But did you know Janet is also planning to launch her own label?
Her record label, Rhythm Nation Records, would be established through
a partnership with music giant BMG and it will also be on the lookout
for up-and-coming artists to sign to the roster, reports The Boombox.
“Thank you to the talented team at BMG, my new artistic home,”
Jackson said in a statement. “The opportunity to be creative in music
and every form of entertainment has great potential here.”
“The worldwide partnership with Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation will
see the release in Fall 2015 of her first as-yet-untitled album and a
commitment to pursue the full range of options within the broader
Bertelsmann group of which BMG is part. With Rhythm Nation Janet Jackson
becomes arguably the first female African-American recording artist to
form her own record label. At Rhythm Nation Janet plans to offer a home
to both new and established recording artists,” reads the statement.
Janet’s new single should “hit radio and/or online within 30 days,” reports Radio Facts. This will be her first album since 2008’s Discipline, and her 11th studio album.
Jackson, who began her entertainment career at the age of seven, has
had sales of more 160 million records worldwide, making her one of the
best-selling artists of all time.
